Partly Facetious: Shahbaz Sharif's bizarre statement
"Shahbaz Sharif made a faux pas."
"Faux pas or something infinitely more serious!"
"Whatever you consider is the appropriate word. My point and that of the rest of the country is you don't request terrorists to leave your province alone and cite commonality of views."
"Agreed; and you know we are all human and make mistakes especially during an extempore speech - besides he may have been reeling from the large number of suicide attacks on Lahore the other day and made a comparison that does not bear thinking...besides his statement brings to mind the statement by the Sindh Home Minister with reference to Pakistan na khappay after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto and how Zardari saved the day..."
"Mirza doesn't have the same stature as Shahbaz Sharif. Besides when will you ever quit being a die-hard Nawala?"
"And when will you quit being a die-hard Zardi?"
"What's your point?"
"My point is both of us need to revisit statements of our leaders and instead of blindly defending their thoughtless statements we should take exception whenever merited."
"Fair enough!"
"And from my perspective to say sorry and admit that the intent of my words was not to get the entire country up in arms is OK."
"Politics is about never saying sorry. Look at Blair he is still defending the indefensible."
"I am so tired of politics everywhere."
"Not a drop of relief for the public anywhere in sight."
"Pretty soon there will be not a drop of water either in this country. India is busy building more and more dams and our government lawyers, led by the mother of all incompetents, are simply not taking India for arbitration in time."
"Babar Awan is not well I hear."
"Neither is the country's legal system, operating within and outside..."
"Zardari is not afraid to die."
"Where did that come from? Anyway I know you are trying to change the subject and..."
"Zardari said that to the participants of the Sufi conference."
"Sufism is not about death, it's more about being one with God through prayers."
"Well Zardari is not afraid to meet his maker."
"Not the same thing. Besides if he isn't afraid then why doesn't he get out of the Presidency and roam about the country."
"He did."
"Ah but he stayed indoors wherever he went - even the inauguration of development projects were not on site but in the Governor's House"
"You should appreciate that: that is yet another example of thinking out of the box."
